Hi Gorgeous!!!
Actually, we aren't going on a picnic today. But I want to go on a picnic date really soon, especially since Ian and I will be separated for the summer months! So today I am going to share my essentials to having that perfect picnic outing!
Picnic Blanket
A picnic blanket can either break or make a picnic date. A couple years ago, Ian and I bought a fun picnic blanket from Target after we realized how much we loved going on picnics. After buying an actual picnic blanket, our picnicking was fancied up! I think a cute and fun picnic blanket that you can pull out of your basket at a moment's notice is key to a successful picnic date! Our picnic blanket has an easy zip that makes folding it at the end neat and easy!

Picnic Basket
Another essential to upping the ante on the picnic game. Having a great basket that isn't only functional but cute is essential. I don't have a basket yet, but it's on my list to purchase this year to add to our picnic collection. It's great when you find one that comes with the plates, cups, silverware and napkins. I also saw a really fun colorful one at target in stores- they don't have it online.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Essentials or some call it the food/drinks
-Ian and I love having chicken salad on picnics.
-Something like pita chips and hummus is always greatly appreciated. Or if you aren't a fan of hummus, cheese and crackers.
-Dessert: some kind of yummy dessert. I have made brownies, cupcakes, cookies, and scones as dessert on picnics. Something I plan on making next: strawberry shortcake.
-Some sparkly: Nothing makes a picnic more fun than a bottle of wine or some sparkling flavored water with a hint of rum (or vodka!). I really like to get a bottle of sparkling sangria pre-made. Whole Foods carries a really good brand!
Outfit to satisfy
I always think picnics are more fun when I wear a longer dress that is really flowly. My favorite dress is this green one that I got at H&M ages ago. I also like to wear wedges or fancy sandals when going on a picnic.
But here are some alternatives: (Boden is having 25% off sale until Sunday!)

Extras
-Sunscreen: no one wants to get sunburnt (or worse- skin cancer) while on a date!
-Sunglasses: nothing is worse than taking selfies and squinting.
-Derby Hat: if you have one. These are a great purchase. They are great for picnics, derby day, and easter!
-Plates, cloth napkins, and silverware! I go all out and use plastic plates with flowers on them, real utensils, cloth napkins, plastic wine glasses.
- Pillows: for laying down and looking the clouds after you stuff your face with food and wine!
-Games! Nothing is more fun than playing a game when there is a lull in the conversation. Sorry! and Monopoly are fun games to pull out from time to time as a flashback to your childhood.
Now go throw on some heels, a dress, grab your honey and pack up that picnic basket! I am hoping that Ian and I will be able to do the same this week! Look for my post tomorrow, and my post Friday about a happy hour drink special!
