When thinking of what cocktail to share, gin kept coming to mind. Maybe it's because I haven't had gin in a while or maybe it's just because I am craving it. But here's my excuse to run to the store and grab a bottle of my favorite (Bombay Sapphire).
Gin, Lime, and Mint
Ingredients:
2 ounces of gin
1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice
3/4 ounce of simple syrup
1 sprig of mint
1 fresh mint leaf
Directions:
Combine gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and mint sprig in a shaker. Add some ice.
Shake, Shake, Shake baby
Strain into a chilled martini glass (yea we're going that fancy)
Garnish with a mint leaf
Take a deep breath and then a good sip.
Cheers!
(p.s. this recipe makes one serving and was found here)
To make your cocktail experience even better, here are my favorite bar essentials:
Good tools are essential to shaking up some wicked cocktails. I love these bar tools from West Elm
I personally enjoy shaking up my cocktail in one of these. You have to get good at controlling your shaker, but I always feel like cocktails shook up in one of these tastes better. However, if you prefer something a bit easier this one is a good option: Copper Shaker
I love these cocktail glasses. Very similar style to my Lilly Pulitzer cocktail glasses.
Since I am so into nautical stuff, I totally freaked when I saw this! Ian and I have mostly sailor friends, so next party that I break this out at I'm sure there will be some compliments on the ice
I am loving this Wood Wine Caddy ! Such a cute way to display your wine selection.
This changed my bar tending life almost immediately. It also changed my cooking life as well. I highly suggest you invest in one of these, you won't regret it.
Some cute cocktail napkins are a must for a cocktail night in or cocktail party.
These are sold out but here are some other great options:
This weekend, as mentioned in yesterday's post, we are hosting some visitors at my aunt's house. My mom and her co-workers are coming in town to shop a merchandise mart downtown and staying at the house. My sister is coming along for the ride to hang out with me this weekend. We plan on doing some chores such as cutting the grass and washing the car, but also going shopping. Don't worry, I will share what we end up buying on our shopping trip. You can also follow along on my Instagram account @ nautistripes.
As of right, I am just getting off work. Going to go home, crack open a bottle of Rose and sit on the front porch curled up with a good book (It's 5 O'clock somewhere, right?!). Hope y'all have a great weekend, and comment below with how you like the cocktail of the week.
Before you go, check out these awesome sales for the weekend:
