I love when you have a vacation within a vacation. While we are in Florida, my aunt and I decided to drive 2 hours north(ish) to visit family friends. It was a great time to take a little break from our growing group and have a small, intimate visit. We drove up Monday night and got in pretty early. Ended up having nice conversations from the time we arrived until midnight. Next morning, it was early rising (7:20am) to walk down the beach to breakfast.
Breakfast was really, really good! It was a good walk down the beach when we cut back into town, walking towards a French cafe. I ordered a cappuccino right when we sat down, while the others ordered coffee. For breakfast I had a dish called "Sand Dollar" which was two eggs, a croissant, fresh fruit and two pieces of bacon. It was very delicious. We also had an order of French baguettes that were clearly house made because they tasted so good.
During the day we hung out by the pool and eventually decided we had enough sun. Then after showers and snacks we headed off to see a movie. We saw "Far from the Madding Crowd" which was a really good movie. There were parts that were a bit confusing but that's probably due to either a bad actor or the plot not being developed well in some areas of the movie.
Dinner was at a really cool joint next to the movie theater. It definitely was the place to eat in town. We were seated pretty quickly and the decorations were very unique.
For dinner I had fish, being that the place was a fish house and I love fish! I went with the cornmeal catfish with grits on the side. The fish was so tender and delicious, it kept me going back for more. The grits were exactly what I expected but better.
Tomorrow morning we are up early again to partake yoga on the beach. I'm pretty excited to attempt yoga in a bikini. We will see how this will all work out!
Talk to y'all tomorrow! Look for my post about beach yoga and my (first) wednesday book club post.
XOXO-Mandie
