Shake Up Your Friday!

Hi Gorgeous!!!

Can you say TGIF?! Sometimes I feel as though my whole week is just me trying to make it through until the weekend. My boyfriend always makes fun of me because every Monday afternoon like clock work I am texting him asking what the plans are for the following weekend! He's always saying "Let's get through most of the week before we start discussing the weekend." I guess we are different that way, I always want something to be looking forward to, while he is one of those people who enjoys the current moments (something I envy about him!).

It's Friday- you deserve a drink! Ian and I love to try out new cocktails- we'll think of any excuse to go out. Oh, you didn't get pulled over today? Yay, let's go celebrate! Finally finished that term paper? Ok let's go out! Those are just a few of the excuses we've come up with. But when it's Friday, no one really needs an excuse! Here's a recipe for a fun summertime drink you can make at home! I promise next week I will share one that can be made without alcohol! :)

On this Friday's Cocktail Spotlight, I will be sharing a drink that Ian and I really enjoyed from our trip to Chicago last summer. The recipe is tweaked a little bit from 3 Dots and a Dash's version, but it will be just as good- I promise! (P.S. Traveling to Chicago? Check out 3 Dots and a Dash. Link at the bottom!)

Jet Pilot Classic Tiki Cocktail

1 oz of Jamaican Rum
3/4 oz of Puerto Rican Rum
3/4 oz of some kind of 151 Proof Rum
1/2 oz of Grapefruit Juice
1/2 oz of Lime Juice
1/2 oz of Simple Syrup
Pinch of Cinnamon
Dash of Bitters
1/8 Teaspoon of Absinthe
Shake in a shaker with a handful of ice
Serve up in a Tiki Cup with an umbrella (If desired!)

I know it sounds like a lot of ingredients- but trust me, it's good! If you are looking for an excuse to buy all of these materials, host a spring/summer Tiki Party. Then you can share your classic tiki cocktail skills with your friends! ;)

(Excuse our crazy faces- I could blame it all on the presence of the flash, but honestly
we were just feeling our drinks, they are strong!)

This weekend I am off to Chicago for a little girls weekend with my mom and aunt. We will be going to my Aunt's art gallery opening tonight followed by a Saturday filled with shopping and pizza of course! Look for my post on Saturday about my outfit and the art gallery and my Sunday post about our shopping experience.

XOXO-Mandie
