Is it just me or does everyone else feel like Thursdays are their most productive day? I get so much done: things from projects to re-organizing my closet after the week's laziness. Today on this Thursday I'll be talking about closet organization. Outfit of the day below, all clothing on sale!
My Closet- after a few months of research and cleaning out, it is now a beautiful space that is very organized. I know, many people are probably like me and get really sloppy with hanging things up throughout the week. I also used to have a really hard time finding my cute clothes under clothes I haven't worn in years. So, I started pinning closets and ways to get your closet under control. Here are the tips I live by now:
Take everything out!
Literally, take everything out. Shoes, Bags, Pants, Shirts, Dresses; the whole nine yards. It will look like a tornado came through your room but trust me it's worth it. Then try on every item. Look in the mirror and if your first instinct is "meh" get rid of it. Whenever I do this (Every season) I make three piles, one to keep, one to give away, and one that is a maybe pile. Another question I ask myself (and I do this shopping as well) is: "where will you wear this to?" If you can think of somewhere you'd wear it to instantly then keep it (or buy it), if not then you probably will never have the urge to wear it.
That advice is something I started asking myself randomly, and used it when I went shopping with my mom and aunt last weekend. My aunt loved that idea. She was like, that's the best question you can ask yourself.
Organize it
Don't just hang everything you are keeping back in your closet randomly. Take the time to organize it by colors, sleeve length, etc. My closet is organized like this: bottom shelf is all pants, shorts, and skirts. I have my shorts (color coded), then my jeans (color coded as well. dark to light), my skirts (also color coded), and then extra hangers. The shelf above that is all shirts. So I have my workout shirts (color coded), then striped shirts, then black, navy, grey, pink, printed, and lastly tank tops. Another shelf in my closet is for sweaters, button ups, and dresses (all color coded). For my Barre3 stuff, I bought a really cute pink bin from the container store so I know where all of those are.

My shoe closet is organized a bit differently. I have four shelves that I put shoes (and purses) on. The bottom shelf is wedges and my toms right now (just rotated out my boots), then the second level is sandals, flip flops, and sneakers, the third shelf has purses and accessories, and the fourth shelf has my high heels on them. Hanging off my first shelf is my jackets (spring jackets now) and fitness pullovers. I also have my fancy dresses hanging on a different shelving rack in this closet.
My purses are stored in these cute bins:

My clutches and wallets are in these bins:

By organizing your closet, it makes it easier to find the cute things you want to wear rather than having to search all over for that specific top.
Invest
Invest in velvet hangers. They aren't as cheap as the plastic ones, but they save space and don't snag your clothing. I bought a few, here and there over the last few years, but recently switched over to mostly using those. Target had a great sale on a huge box full of them.
Under the Bed Bins
Oh my god! Seriously, this is the best thing you can buy yourself. I used to make fun of my mom for years for buying these. But as I have gotten more into fashion and buying a lot of clothes (inner Carrie Bradshaw over here!) I really need that space under the bed. Every season I rotate out clothes. I have a bin for sweaters (which I had to buy a second bin after my shopping spree last summer), a bin for boots, a bin for normal shirts, and a bin for pjs & pants. These bins save me a lot of space and I always have a really fun time taking things out and folding things to put away. (Did I mention I love clothes?!) The ones I have that are from Target are currently on sale until Sunday! I may be ordering myself another one. Link below
Today I am wearing:
I LOVE this top! My mom gave me this for my birthday and it has gotten a lot of use. So Cute to wear with a long sweater (pictured below) or with rolled up jean shorts. It's currently on sale- go buy one!!!!!! Link below!!!!
AG jeans are seriously my latest addiction. They are so comfortable and so forgiving. I don't think I will ever buy another pair. (I already have 3!). This pair is on sale currently as well! Link Below!
So I have to admit, I don't own this sweater. I own one very similar from last season. But I have tried on this one and it's very cute! It's as well on sale! Link Below!
