Ups and Downs of Shopping

Hi Gorgeous!!!

As promised, I will share what I purchased yesterday from our shopping trip. I have to be honest, we got a little distracted with visiting and talking in general. We started the day by visiting a property my Aunts are purchasing and have plans to rebuild. After we walked around the lot, we then went on a house tour with one of our good friends up here (Seems like the time to buy houses).

In the "heat" of the afternoon (I believe it was 70s & sunny) we decided to visit with good friends on their back porch. It was a nice afternoon filled with laughter, talk of the future, remembrance of the past, and all the stuff in between. After visiting for an hour, we left and had pizza at the famous Lou Malnati's.

Naperville, a suburb of Chicago, is definitely the place to go shopping with girlfriends or the family. It was very packed and they had a great range of stores. Places like Eddie Bauer all the way to LuluLemon. We ended up visiting Eddie Bauer for my aunt and mom, Talbots for my mom, Gap for my aunt and me, Anthropologie for all of us, and Evereve for me. I was not having a "shopping" day of good luck. I kept finding cute things but when I went to try them on I kept thinking "meh". I'll blame it on the linner (lunch+dinner) that we had just enjoyed. My mom and aunt however did find some great sale items, one of them being five dollar kakis. I did eventually end up with an adorable Flamingo tank from Evereve (link @ the bottom)

Did anyone else wake up early on their Sunday morning and become quickly disappointed by the Lilly Pulitzer for Target experience?! What a bummer that whole thing ended up being. I thought Target would be smart and have enough merchandise to handle the out burst of Lilly fans, but they certainly didn't. We ended up arriving at a small Target in an unpopulated area around my aunt's house around 8:12 am. Everything was pretty much gone. My mom luckily grabbed my ice bucket and drink stirrers as soon as she saw them. We eventually began accumulating more things as people decided to put some stuff back. We ended up adding the matching pitcher, a cute cocktail set, and a phone case for my sister.

Luckily I reacted quickly and called my sister (woke her up, sorry Lauren!) to have her drive to the target near her school. What a difference from the Chicago Targets, they were pretty much fully stocked around 9:00 am. So she got some cute shorts and a top, found me a maxi dress, and my mom a cute floral beach bag. So I guess I can't really say it was a downer, but I was definitely disappointed and didn't get everything I had hoped to get. But, unlike others today, I believe that would've been unfair. I don't need four more dresses anyways! Ian thinks Target may re-stock, but I think it was a one time deal. If you went out this morning, what was your experience? And if you snagged anything, what did you come home with?! (Comment Below!) If you were looking for a specific item, maybe check Ebay. The prices are a lot higher than Target's but there may be some adjusting as the week goes on.

Coming home is always an ordeal. You don't want to leave your little weekend getaway but you also just want to get home, knowing Monday morning is approaching quickly. I was very excited to see Ian though. We went out to a hip bar near my house to have some snacks, drinks, and catch parts of the baseball game.

Check out the links below & comment about your experience if you ventured out to Target! Look for tomorrow's post :)

XOXO-Mandie
